AI Suggested Title: Awareness and Liberation in Abhidharma
So your consideration brings us out of talking about Abhidharma. Abhidharma says there really is anger. You can identify that way. And you can perceive it in a moment. It can happen in a moment. But that's the first level of liberation is to be able to see that. So I think, actually, enough people left, so maybe we should, if we go much further, we'll be kind of, maybe not so good for the health of the class if we talk too much more. What? What you do is you start, try to find six heavens Sixth Commodato Heavens, okay? On Mount Sumerro. See if you can find them. When you find all six of them, you can start counting from there.
[01:05]
Another way to do it is start from the top and count down 21. The heavens begin right here. The heavens begin right here. Commodato Heavens start right here. Six of them, one here. The top one's in that little house. Well, those are sort of like sort of tending divine forms like yakshas, various kinds of spirits. They themselves aren't really divine modes, but they're like some of the, what do you call, population of the divine situation. At the lowest levels of divine existence in the Kamadatu, you get in touch with things like tree spirits and gnomes and elves, like in Shakespeare's Tempest.
[02:21]
you know, Ariel, Ariel's attendants, those kinds of spiritual powers, they themselves aren't really divine beings in the sense that they are having bliss. They're more like actually lost beings that have certain powers with which the gods of that realm can utilize at will. And so actually to study Shakespeare or Elizabethan... cult practices, what you're doing to a great extent is you're finding out about people who had become masters but not only good enough so that they got into these lower realms of divine abode and kamadatu. He's obviously a divine being. He knew his way around these lower, at least these lower realms of kamadatu heaven. I mean, he wasn't the only one.
[03:24]
A lot of people in those days, optimists and so on, that's what they're playing with. They're playing with these beings that lived around lower steps, so to speak. These are beings that are at your disposal when your karma is great and you become one of these gods, one of these Kamadatu gods. So that might be a good time if you remind me. I'll... I'll bring it up at that point, maybe even before. I can't wait. But if you look at the character of these characters, they're not so much telling you about what's in each of these in detail, but more like they're just sort of enumerating them and then tell you about their basic functioning and their karmic nature. And this is kind of the outline, this first... Up to character seven, it's still basic structure, giving the basic structures of the mundane world.
[04:34]
They don't tell you what's in them yet, except just the names of them. And then character ten is intermediate existence between these gutti. So I was thinking to do this and then later go into the detail. Any questions about what to do? So we'll probably be on discussing, you know, these first 10 characters for, I think, a few more weeks. So study the first 10 characters thoroughly. So you're familiar with this material. It's a lot of new worries. Since this is sort of an outline, it might be good to read that analytic study of the Abhidharma Kosha, that sort of outline presentation.

A book called The Analytic Study of Abhidharma Kosha. It's on the reading, reserve reading. In this particular section, I think you might find that useful.
