Thank you. The initial impulse to just sit upright comes as a gift.

[02:09]

a gift which I assume all of you have received, that at some point in your life you felt the desire to just sit to just be what you are, nothing more, nothing less. Wanting to be thus is a gift. it is the same as the spirit of enlightenment.

[03:41]

This gift of wanting to just be upright, to just be what we are, is a gift that we do not give to ourselves, and it's not given to us by another. This gift is born from communion with awakening. The union of our life and awakening gives rise to the will to just sit gives rise to the willingness

[05:56]

to just be thus without excluding anything and without desiring anything or rather even while desiring we surrender desire Even while expecting, we let go of expectation. We don't hold on to anything. rely even on the teachings of Buddha

[07:01]

The arising of this mind is a gift and walking the path of the mind of uprightness is a matter of concentrating on this original willingness to just be thus. Sustaining this gift, carrying it forward in life requires discipline, mindfulness, and concentration, requires patience, enthusiasm, and vigilant

[08:31]

alertness. The profound warmth of Buddha's compassion which comes as a gift and says, you can be yourself completely. You don't have to be someone else. This warm heart needs to be guarded

[09:39]

and cared for in order to be sustained and developed. Throughout the day, being willing to just be upright and let go of desire and expectation.

[11:17]

Let go of feeling that you need to depend on something outside yourself. throughout the day having the courage to be what's happening. This morning, we need to mow the grass on the moon.

[12:37]

When a stranger comes, a stranger comes. When a familiar comes, that's it. The brilliant morning of the 18th day of May. Just sitting upright like a 10,000 foot cliff.

[14:05]

No one's words cling to you. You don't rely on your own. You don't rely on someone else's. You don't need anything. And everything comes to you. You let go of it and it fills your basket. This is called sitting in the cold, nurturing the warm heart. the heart of completeness, born of communion with Buddha.

[15:22]

Unless this cold penetrates through into our bones. How will the apricot blossoms perfume the whole world? Each of us, every moment, must find our own path

[16:45]

We have received a gift. Do you feel, do you remember the gift you have received from Buddha? From Buddha Communion? From the Buddha that's not other than you? Can you feel, can you remember that gift? And if I may raise my voice, may I ask you, are you taking care of the gift? Do you feel grateful for the gift you have received? Are you deeply grateful for the opportunity to practice Buddha Dharma?

[19:04]

Are you ecstatic at the opportunity to study and realize the Dharma of the Buddha? Yes. Are you taking care of it now? Yes. Will you continue to take care of this dharma which has been given to you? If the answer is yes, then you are maintaining the blood of the Buddhas and ancestors, the heart of compassion.

[20:31]

If that's so, please don't go back to sleep. Unless the cold of Bodhidharma's concentration penetrates through to our bones, how will the apricot blossoms perfume the whole universe? Now you can put on the robe of Buddha, if you have one.

[22:25]

Great robe of liberation, filled far beyond form and emptiness, wearing not the targeted taking all the great growth of the creation, giving birth to all the young people.
