Transcript:

I said that old saying last week that the meaning is not in the words, but it comes forth in response to the arrival of life, of energy. And I also mentioned that I think it helped that the delivery or the bringing forth of the energy is more fully realized in a state of tranquility. So your energy is always coming forth, but if you're not tranquil, you might miss seeing

[01:03]

the energy which is coming forth to meet the word. So I really want to interact with you, but I also respect your sense of how tranquil you are. So if I call, if I beckon you, if I invite you and you don't feel calm and ready to interact with me or others, it's okay, you can just relax and maybe you don't say much or do much in response to the invitations that may be offered to you, and that's okay for me. Although I want you to learn how to interact with the whole world, I also understand that

[02:07]

without composure it's hard to see how that's happening. So please, in the class, feel supported and encouraged to really be relaxed and present, and then someone may suddenly offer you a chance, but if you don't feel calm, just kind of let it go. That's the kind of response. Okay? So the introduction says, one word causes the nation to flourish. One word. This is the last case. One word's enough. If you, before you die, can meet one word, you can realize the meaning of the Buddhadharma.

[03:18]

Just one word, and this whole country can be benefited, okay, by the way you meet one word. The meaning's not in the word, but the way you meet it. With that meeting with that word, the whole nation can flourish. It's each of our job to do that, with these words that live in this world, with these words that are, you know, they're actually alive, just like mountains and people, and we can interact with them. One word can cause the nation to perish.

[04:20]

If we don't meet the word with tranquility and courage and patience and compassion and wisdom, that meeting with one word could hurt this whole country. We're all responsible for this kind of meeting, not just some of us. And I remember last week Susan Black said that she didn't think she was wacky enough to be a Zen student, and I said, you're wacky enough to be a Zen student, but you may not be wacky enough to meet one word in such a way as to help this whole nation. Now, wacky doesn't mean you're just hysterical. It means you can act like you're hysterical if that would be the way to meet the word,

[05:31]

but of course your hysteria is totally buoyant and flexible and calm and fearless, and you're not afraid to be wacky or hysterical. Today you may be afraid to be wacky or hysterical. Okay, just keep calming down. Someday, if you get calm enough, you won't be afraid to be wacky anymore. You won't be afraid to be whatever you are, and if you're not wacky, you won't be afraid to be not wacky. If you're not hysterical, that's okay too. But you are who you are, always, and it's your responsibility to fulfill that and meet one word or more with who you are. Then this nation will flourish at that meeting. It's not your practice. It's your practice together with the word. This drug can kill people and can bring people to life also.

[06:41]

The benevolent seeing this, call it benevolence. The wise seeing this, call it wisdom. But tell me, where does the benefit or harm lie? Does a monk ask Long Yao a question? Yes. What is he asking? It says, purity is originally so. How does it suddenly produce mountains, rivers, and the great earth? And the teacher responds by saying the same thing. Is it the same thing? He's saying the same thing, yes. It's the same thing, in order to show how to meet the words.

[07:43]

Let's see if you can use words. Don't judge me. But I'm seeing if I can use words, not to talk about Zen, but to talk to it. Not to talk about you, but to talk to you. There may be trouble ahead. So while there's music and moonlight and love and romance, let's face the music, can you hear it? And dance. Before the fiddlers have fled.

[09:05]

Here comes the part that may I have trouble with. Before they ask us to pay the bill. And while there's still a chance, let's face the music and dance. Soon we'll be without the moon. Humming a different tune. And then there may be teardrops to shed. So while there's music, can you hear it? And moonlight, can you see it? And love and romance, can you feel it?

[10:06]

Can you feel it? Is it here? Let's face the music and dance. Let's face the word and dance. Shall we? Carol? Mirror. Mirror. Mirror, mirror. Mirror. Reflectance. On the wall. Deflection. Who's the fairest? Deformation. Of them all? In your head. Let's dance. Tango. Yes. Karaoke. Karaoke? Karaoke. Karaoke. How about karaoke?

[11:09]

So, Carol, you want to come and dance? I don't know how to tango. You don't? But I can yo-yo. You can? Let's see. Let's see. That's a yo-yo. That's a yo-yo? Thank you, I get it. No, there's not a lot of space to actually do it. There's not a lot of space? Not here, there's not. Guess what? Tango is practiced in tight spaces. No, we're seeing tango. It's practiced in crowded environments, like this. So we can practice tango here. How about on the table? Table's not here. Yeah. We can do this on the floor, though. We have a floor. Dance floor. We have a floor. If anybody wants to come up and dance, please.

[12:21]

Are you giving lessons? I will dance. I mean, I will dance. Lessons I don't know about. I came for lessons. I came for lessons, and I thought, after I was planning on getting seven years of lessons, and then I thought I would go meet a Word and help the nation flourish. But I haven't left yet. So instead of just seven years taking lessons here, it's been more like 37. So it looks like now I'll just keep practicing until the last moment. Why stop then? Well, it's not that I will stop, but I will be stopped. Just before I'm stopped.

[13:23]

I hope to meet that Word with all the training that's happened up to that point and do a good dance. Want to sit here? Sure. Please. Watch this. Jackie, are those corduroy? Yes. Okay. Corduroy. Yeah. I had a pair of pants like that back in 56. I was a boy then. You were a boy then. I had a pair that was kind of this color, actually. And I had some brown ones, too. And I wore them to school the first day.

[14:26]

And they were radiant. Talking about clothes, I saw your daughter at the GIF today. We were shopping. You guys get around. Girls also get around? Fabulous. Girls and guys. Rob, tell the truth. You invented corduroy. You mean you want me to confess that that's true, what you just said? Mm-hmm. I confess. Walter Lorschbaum wore orange corduroy pants. Did he? He did. What color? Orange. Orange! Yeah. I never had any orange pants. I bet I did sell the first pair of pants with orange corduroy pants.

[15:31]

They were hot. It was a collaboration. You brought some energy to those pants? I think I did, yeah. Can you talk? Can you talk? Does it bring an energy to her? Are you? It still does. That's great. They're called the Penta-Corduroys. Yeah. The Penta-Corduroys. Dependent Corduroys. Really? You need that word. What? You need that word. Yeah. And then the great Zen teacher.

[16:48]

Tien-Tung Hung-Gyur. He says, what did he say? He says, oh, there it is. Seeing existence without considering it existence. Amen. That's called dancing. Good. Can you relax and see existence without considering it existence? Tonight's the night. Otherwise you'd give up. Otherwise you'd give up? Yeah. So you're successful at this practice? Oh, am I successful at giving up? No. Are you successful at not considering what you see as existence? As existence. Have you been able to be that way? Tonight? Now? Now? Yeah.

[17:51]

Now. And are you dancing? How about your feet? How about your feet? What are they doing? My feet are relaxed. Good. Do they have something to say? Do they have something to say? Yeah. Hmm. There they go. Yeah. Wow. Okay. Did they finish yet? Have they finished yet? Well, I don't know. Are they happy feet? Are they happy feet? Yeah, they're a little cold. Do they want a little exercise? Are you driving to dance? Huh? Are you driving to dance? I'm driving? Driving. Driving. Driving. Keep those doggies rolling. Anybody's doggies? You want those doggies to roll a little bit there? Ah, yeah? Okay. How about your doggies, Charlie?

[18:54]

How are they doing? They're doing okay. Are they happy? Yeah, they're happy. They're moving around there? Yeah, they can wiggle. Okay. Are you feeling tranquil, Stephen, yet? No. Not yet? Are you feeling tranquil, Laurie? Yeah. I'm feeling I'm not the same person I was when I came in tonight. Oh, how lovely. So you and I, are we ready to let go of the person that we used to have? I am. Me too? Hello, new person. Want to dance? Yeah.

[19:56]

Any particular way? I have no idea. Yeah. Do you have the corduroy pants on? No. She kind of has a corduroy shirt on. A little bit, you know. And we won't ask you out to take your corduroy pants off again. We won't, not yet anyway. I was going to, I had a t-shirt I was going to wear tonight, by the way, and I was going to disclose my identity, but I... I had the t-shirt on, but it was a little bit smelly from working out, so I didn't wear it. And also I didn't want to draw so much attention to myself. But I do have a t-shirt. That discloses my identity. Did you wear it washing dishes the other night?

[20:59]

No, that was a different one. That was a different one. I had this idea of doing it as a round. Like some people, like you guys going, purity, purity, fundamental purity. Mountains, mountains. You guys. Mountains, rivers. Well, or maybe something a little more like mountains and rivers. What would that look like? So you guys. These guys. Fundamental purity. Fundamental purity. And then you would say what, you would have an idea for what these guys would do.

[22:04]

But I mean at the same time. Purity, purity, fundamental purity. [...] He's all up in there.

[23:14]

I want to know if it's been brought to a woman, how it's been brought to a woman. If a Zen master was a woman? Well, was she a Zen master? Yes, but there was definitely a leader and a follower. That's right, there definitely was. So, who was the Zen master? Who was the Zen master? What's the answer? Both. Okay, now listen. What does that mean? Are you or are you not listening? Remember, it's really true

[25:29]

that in all of Green Gulch, there are no teachers of Zen. Okay? How about all these people coming to class? I didn't say that there was no Drexler thing. I just said there's no teachers of Zen. But there is Zen. I didn't say that either. I didn't say there wasn't Zen. I'm not saying there isn't Zen, or that there isn't Drexler. I'm just saying there's no Zen teachers. Yes, and also no non-existent Zen teachers. However, there is the appearance of Zen teachers in the classroom. And when you see one that appears to exist,

[26:33]

can you not consider it existing? And then dance with it before it's too late. How about E-late? Early, combined with late? I'm bad with names, but Gordon, I think. I didn't say anything. Gordon didn't say anything, so could you please talk to him and see what he has to say? I just wondered about E-late, but E-late in my mind was like, you know, like we have this whole era of whatever it was

[27:34]

because it was digital and electronic and internet. But after I said E-late, it's like E-late early combined with late. But then late is actually joyous. I'm not perfectly relaxed. Laughter Laughter A smile helps. Laughter That's how I remember Gordon. Maybe I'll get your face down. No, you can't see me. Laughter You're very handsome tonight, Gordon. Laughter

[28:35]

It took courage to come. It took courage to come. And you didn't disappoint me. And you didn't disappoint me. Last week or this week? As a matter of fact, I'm really happy to see you. You're so handsome. Are you calm yet? Yeah. Not quite? I didn't ask a question. It wasn't a question, was it? Forget her. I'm not perfectly relaxed. Laughter You look like Nina on this day. Laughter Brian, are you feeling sick?

[29:48]

I was thinking exactly that. I feel sick again, just like last week. What part of your body is sick? The very bottom of my stomach. I feel like jelly. You feel like jelly? Anybody else got jelly in their tummy? Way down below there, under the belly button? Is there jelly down there? Potatoes. Was there potatoes tonight? May I give any assistance, Brian, to your jelly tummy?

[30:51]

Will you tell me that you think it's okay that I feel a little sick? Will I tell you that? Would that be of assistance? Even before you asked, I felt that way. But now that you say that, I feel really glad to be the way I am. Because the way I am is what you said you wanted me to be. And you can keep coming to meet me and being sick every time if that's what happens. I'm not saying that's what you want. For me it's okay for all of you to be sick. With and of me. Laughter Laughter That was good. Something good happened? That was good. I checked out a book at the San Francisco Zen Center.

[32:02]

You did? From the library? From the library. I didn't actually buy a book. You're a member, right? Yes. It's actually due. What's the book? It's a book by John McRae. I think it's John McRae. Is it about Zen? It's about Zen and it's about that all the lineage is false. That there was no Bodhidharma. Laughter I'm feeling kind of sick. Laughter [...] I'm kind of sick too.

[33:07]

Maybe it's not your fault. You know. What did you say? Maybe you shouldn't say anymore. Laughter Like a secret among us. I remember one time when I heard about Bodhidharma maybe being apocalyptic. Oh look at that nice picture of this guy who may not have existed. Laughter Is that a picture of nothing? This is a picture of something that may appear to exist which the Zen tradition does not consider existent. And therefore we can draw lots of nice pictures. If he was existent then the good phony photographs would be appropriate. But since we do not consider this

[34:10]

wonderfully apparently existent creature to be existent we can do these wonderful drawings of him and even we can go to China and get beautiful statues of him and take them to Berkeley or even to Oakland. Particularly Oakland. Or buy them for your teacher. So ah yes thank you. And also so I went to Kadagira one time and after I read about the construction of the Zen lineage with Bodhidharma at the top and research showing that there was no evidence that such a creature ever existed. See Henry that place we went was just an illusion. His stupa and all that. We weren't actually there. Right. And I said that to Kadagira and he said oh. He said well by 50 years from now people will probably say that I didn't exist.

[35:11]

Laughter That's very, that's a strongly suggestive comment. That's what I said to him at that time. I said Roshi that's a strongly suggestive comment. Laughter Laughter Now we'd say you're impugning something. They say the same thing about the sixth ancestor. You don't like that. Did you say I don't like that? Laughter I did. You are, you have happy feet. Laughter Now, does Ravindra exist? Or is she just a legend?

[36:15]

She's a legend. She's not a legend? Nor does she exist. Witch Roberta. I mean the Roberta I was speaking of was the one we all worship. Oh yeah, not often enough. Are we sorry about that? Sorry. Lo siento. I feel better now. Does that mean you're not dead? Well not dead either. I actually don't know. I'm available as a model for funerals. Laughter

[37:17]

I don't know if she was kidding about that but if you want to practice doing funerals at home Roberta will come to your home and pose as a corpse. If you want to practice funeral ceremonies at home Roberta will come to your home and play the part of the corpse. No, she's a priest. She doesn't have to wear white clothing. However, I think Roberta might even be willing to play the role of a layperson and wear white. Is that right Roberta? Yes. She will pose as a dead monk or as a dead layperson whichever you prefer. Provide the white clothing. And then you can do ceremonies upon her. Laughter And if you'd like instruction on how to do the ceremonies get ordained as a Zen priest and we'll teach you how to do them. Against the donations. Pardon?

[38:32]

Against the donations. Did you say against donations? Against the donations. That's German. Laughter I missed that whatever it was. I'm glad somebody enjoyed it. And you know what Arlene? You know what else? What did you say? I said yes. Do you know what else? I know almost nothing. Bodhidharma, not Bodhidharma, Wong Po who seems to have existed and he's the one who said, what did he say? He's the guy with the Yeah, what did he say? I don't know. He said don't you know that in all of China there is no China. No, no. Laughter There are no teachers of Zen?

[39:35]

No teachers of Zen. He didn't say there's no students of Zen. That wasn't the issue at the moment. That's what Wong Po said, no teachers of Zen. Now, he also said I don't care. I just don't care anymore. You have an incredible memory. Is this all you think about? Laughter You've been thinking about something else? Huh? It's just amazing. You're amazing. Well, you know why I'm this way? Why? Because you said I don't care. So when you say that, then I think about it all week. Because you have a deep impact on me. I can't get away from you all week long. There you are. I lean, I lean, I lean, I lean. I don't care, I don't care.

[40:35]

I just don't care. I don't care. So you're like, you know, with me all week. And then also, don't forget Gordon. Don't forget Gordon. Now I remember why I stopped coming to this class. I thought about Gordon all week. You thought about Gordon all week? And I thought about both of you. Now neither of you think of me. How do you stay healthy? Huh? How do you stay healthy? Because you make me healthy. You force me into health. All of you. I told people what you did last week. Pardon? You did what? How many people? I told more people. More than 50 people. Yeah. Therefore, I'm healthy. Because all of you people are keeping me alive. And we're all keeping you alive. All week.

[41:39]

All week. Unfortunately, you only have one more class. And after that, you're on your own. Just kidding. Just kidding. We'll keep you alive after next week. However, unfortunately or fortunately, Anil is going to Peru next week. Right? Right. Do you want to say anything to the group since you won't be able to say goodbye next week? Or hello? Do you want to say anything? Great. Now do you want to say anything? I have a confession. Great. I've been slandering you. You have? Yeah. How? I said, I think that's kind of a crappy Zen teacher. Wow! There's no Zen teachers. But, even though there aren't any, we have one crappy one.

[42:45]

But you know you're not a Zen teacher, which is kind of encouraging. So I know I'm not, but even though I know I'm not, I'm still a crappy Zen teacher. Me knowing I'm not doesn't stop me from being a crappy Zen teacher. And it doesn't stop you also from being a crappy Zen teacher, even if you know you're not. Because Neil can still say you are. And if he says you are, it has an effect. But he didn't say you were. Right? Just me. I got special attention. That's what they came here for. Special attention. That was only the first part of his statement. He said you were a good Zen student. A great Zen student. He did? Where did he say this?

[43:51]

After the first part. He said it at the later part of the sentence? Wow! What room was he in when he said that? He was in the dining room? I was in the dining room. And you two guys heard him? Maybe not at the same time. He might have said it a lot. He only said it once. But it's spreading. How did it feel? I was trying to get something. You don't have to answer that question. It wasn't why. It was what. I said what. I was trying to get fellow Zen students.

[44:53]

Fishing. You were trying to get some fellow Zen students to play with you? Yeah. Right. Can the word why ever cause the nation to flourish? Yes. Definitely. Definitely. I put tarragon and beans tonight. I put tarragon and beans tonight. I thought you said you put tarragon on the beans. You put tarragon on the beans. On the string beans? Did it turn out pretty well? My favorite word tonight is starlight.

[46:03]

And I look better in jade than granite. Stephen, are you coming yet? I wasn't until about 10 o'clock. Brian, how's your tummy? It's pretty much the same. Okay. Hang in there. I'm accepting you over here. I said I like starlight more than... Because I think moonlight is... Wait a second. I didn't hear you say you like starlight more than anything. I thought you just said it was your favorite word. Right now. But I didn't think that you thereby got into more and less. Well, because of your song. Oh, yeah. Because of the song.

[47:05]

I don't know if moonlight was in the song. It definitely was in the song. And that's why I like starlight more than moonlight. Tonight. Okay. Good. But it was a good song. That reminds me of the song. I said that so that the meeting would flourish. I like his singing now. You do? What happened? I'm, you know, been there, done that. Okay. All right. Anybody else care to... come forth? Yes. You said talk to Zen. What is talk to? What is talk to it?

[48:07]

Are you talking to it now? What are you doing? You're talking, but not to? You do? Well, in order to know what I mean, I would suggest you start talking to Zen. Give it a try. Okay. Please. Zen! Hey, I didn't know I could talk to you. I thought I was supposed to talk from you. I thought I was supposed to be inside of you. I thought I was supposed to study you. I thought I was supposed to absorb you through my pores. I didn't know you were there to talk to. How do you feel now? Agreeable. You feel agreeable? Well, guess what? Zen's encouraging you to keep talking to it. Or maybe we should say, for now, her. Please talk to her some more.

[49:09]

She's inviting you to talk to her some more. Right now. Zen is inviting you right now to talk to her. Okay, Zen. Here we are. I'm still here. And are you enjoying talking to me? Yeah. Yeah, when I think of you, I do. Not when I think of Zen. Now, when you think it's me, you what? I enjoy talking to you when I think I'm talking to you. When you think you're talking to me, you enjoy talking to me? Now, would you like to try something different? Would you like to talk to me without thinking that I'm me? Go ahead. I've got lips. Super. Are you talking to me without thinking that I'm me? And how is it?

[50:15]

It's dandy. Okay. Marjorie, you've arrived. Do you realize that? Would you like to dance? How about now? Okay. I was thinking of Whitney. Midway. Just come closer. Would you like to dance? Would you come along here for this dance? I keep saying I've been here all the time. Here comes forced pregnancy. Fred, what's happening?

[51:16]

He wants to break in. It looks like I'm engaging in a public act. It only looks like it. Is there anything you'd like to say to Is there anything you'd like to say to anybody? Thank you for being here all these years. Thank you for being here all these years. And thank you for coming back for the final two classes. If I don't escape to Indonesia next week, but I haven't got it quite arranged yet. Step like this, right? Step like this, right? Marjorie? Do you know any Zen teachers?

[52:17]

I know an awful lot of them, but you're the closest. Do you want to sit close by or do you want to go back far away? Do you want to sit close by or do you want to go back far away? I consider that close, too. I knew that working very well. Thank you. I'm glad you told me this before you left town. Rather than me hearing... How come nobody else reported this to me? Did you hear about it? Huh? How many people heard this story? Please raise your hands. Before tonight, how many of you heard it? I only heard the first part.

[53:22]

I think it's because he stopped listening. I think you're right. The first part is kind of more interesting, isn't it? What's your name, Jim? I'm James. Do you want to dance? No thanks. That's part of the game. You can say no thanks. We can also circle dance. We can also dance with nobody, sing aloud. Like, all together. Yeah, that's true. Okay. Anybody else care to give something to the group? Yes.

[54:30]

I have a confession. I'm also wearing white corduroy pants. Could you stand up so I can see? Thank you. Are those wide wale or narrow wale? And yours are wide, right? Are yours soft? Mine are soft. Thank you. Anybody you'd like to dance with? Nobody in particular. Anybody want to dance with him? What? How do you feel about that? I'm always offering you partnership. I'm kind of used to that. Well, I'll dance with you. Would you like to dance with me? Sure. Are you a bunch of

[55:32]

dregslippers or something? There's one right here. Why don't you come and dance with them? Will you leave? Female leader, finally. Shall we sing for you? Oh my god. I want to hear it. Who's got the good voice? Elena. Are you telling the truth?

[56:50]

You know, if you look at my pants under binoculars, my binoculars are backward in that corridor. So you're very accommodating tonight. Accommodating. You're very accommodating tonight. Very nice of you. I'm just enjoying... Yeah, you're accommodating. You're just enjoying all these people. It's nice of you. Yeah. Thank you. Even those who terrorize bees. I don't know anybody that terrorizes bees. I thought you said he was terrorizing bees. Terrorize bees. No, I heard him terrorize beans. That's what I... I didn't hear tarragon in beans. I heard him terrorize beans. I thought he was terror... I thought you thought he was terrorizing bees. No, no. If he had thought that, it would have been completely different. This is all happening because Susan made my beans perish.

[58:28]

Before Susan, my beans were... We know you're kidding. My beans were flourishing. I heard flourishing everywhere. I met it. And suddenly, my beans are perishing. And they're not even called beans anymore. The beans may be, as you say. Are you flourishing? Been there, done that. The beans are flourishing in me. I like you, beans. What are the words for that pretty song that you're singing? What are the words? There may be trouble ahead. There may be trouble ahead.

[59:36]

But while there's music, and moonlight, and love, and romance, let's face the music. Let's face the music and dance. Let's face the music and dance. Let's face the music and dance. Before the fiddlers have fled. Before the fiddlers have fled. Before they ask us to pay the bill. Before they ask us to pay the bill. How's that, ma'am? Ma'am? How would I know? Was it painful for your nerves to hear that? Yes. Wow. Let's face the music and dance. Let's face the music and dance. What's the bill?

[60:38]

The bill is for the dinner we ate before we started dancing. And the champagne. And the fiddlers, you know. The fiddlers? Yeah. Was I there? You were always there. And you always will be there. Still, I'm making some effort to not sing off-tune. Just to see to see how you'll be. Are you calm, Bernard? Very calm. Is there anything you'd like to say to Lisa? Before it's too late? I think it's too late. Yeah, right. Right.

[61:44]

I noticed that. You didn't notice, did you? You noticed. Even I noticed. I mean, I like that haircut a lot. There was about four people I thought of when she walked in the door. One was Shannon. You've got three. That's wonderful. You wipe off the four that we need. It's funny, but I didn't hear the first part of it. What am I? Did I make a comment on the case? No. You mean another comment? I mean, it might be a kind of a diversion, but... These people have been commenting on the case.

[62:46]

Oh. And if they can, you can too. In my opinion... I didn't think they were commenting on it. I thought they were more like living the case. That was interesting. He thought they were living the case rather than commenting on it. And that's the kind of comment I'd like you to make now. Ready? Please, live the case. I can't help it. Please. This is an expression of gratitude for the cases. Could you pick up that lamp while you speak? Is it okay if I unplug it? Unplug it! Just transmit it! I just saved that for later.

[63:59]

Transmission's got a short cord. You may have to travel to receive transmission at the synagogue. All the ancients... loved to express the nature of mind. Even though they couldn't teach Zen or exactly say what was going on in a class like this, they would still like to express something about the nature of mind. They did actually have different ways of doing this that were sort of customary, rather than just... I mean, they were formulated. I mean, let's face it, they got in a rut. But anyway, they say it came from the sixth ancestor, and he had the esoteric teaching of Zen.

[64:59]

There's the... And they said... They talked about the mountains and the rivers and the great earth and stuff like that, but they did it like this sometimes. And so, this is not an attempt to teach it or something like that. This is actually an expression of gratitude for the way they did this, which I thought was neat. They said, the original purity, the mountains, the rivers, and the great earth,

[66:00]

this is where they come from. You see it? Thank you. Thank you. That's what a Zen teacher is supposed to do. That's what a Zen teacher is supposed to do. Just express gratitude. You mean dramatic? Would anyone else care to express themselves? Express something.

[67:06]

Pardon? Pardon? What's that? I hope not. No, I'm asking about... I'm just getting ready to do something in response to what you're going to say. Please continue. Please continue? Would you like to say something about the case? Would you like to talk to the case? Talk to the case. I don't have anything to say to the case. Case. Thank you for including the book. Could we go back to the beginning perhaps and start again? Alas, yes we will. Second look. Martha.

[68:12]

Yes, my dear. Would you like to talk to the case? You know, I was thinking about dancing. But then I realized I've always been a wallflower. And then I felt wallflowers were dancing. Yeah, we face the wall and the flower blooms. Has the flower bloomed? It's never stopped blooming. Is it ready to dance in the wind, in the breeze, in the trees, the whisper... ...of Martha? Is it ready to dance? It's dancing already. Is it enjoying the dance? It always has. I've had some strange partners. Pardon? I said, are you talking about Lee?

[69:15]

He's one of them, right? He's one of her partners. She's had some other ones, right? A lot of stepping on toes. Stepping on toes, is that part of dancing? Sure it is. Sometimes it is. Is the flower on her again? It's a flower, isn't it? In the breeze and the flowers. Did you see the red light on the floor going up and down? That's the lineage. It's the lineage, wow. Jack, you found out it's not real. Do you see the lineage jumping down there? He's coming up to meet you. Where did you guys get that stuff? Where are you going?

[70:21]

We're coming over here to see if there's anybody who wants to... How about you? Hi. Are you talking to the case? I think it's possible. Do you think it's possible? Right now that you're talking to the case, do you think it's possible? It's possible. How about you? No, I'm not talking to the case. Are you talking to something? What are you talking to? You stepped on somebody's toe. I'm talking to my lack of temper. I don't know how to care. Well, I would say... Once you calm down, you get a lack of temper.

[71:26]

Once you calm down, you get a lack of temper. How can you get that? Deer parts heart. Deer parts heart? Deer parts heart. Please, please, please. Deer parts heart. Deer parts heart. Deer, deer. The lacking tranquility is requesting you to address it as deer. How about... Deer, deer lacking tranquility. How about... Sweet lack of tranquility. It's the same as deer. It's very similar. How about... Sweet heart lacking tranquility. It's very similar. My old friend.

[72:27]

I have an old friend. How about it's the same for you? It's sad. Welcome. Come to my heart. I thought I had to say that first. Looks like you do. Will you come and join? Your friend? Old friend? Do you want to do that? Will you join? Me? I'm speaking on behalf of your wife. Will you join me? Yes, I will join you. Do you care for me? I... You have to tell me how. About the sickness you are. Oh, okay. The richer or poorer. Okay. The better the one.

[73:28]

Okay. You and I become... Not with tranquility anymore. That would be good. Still, we do care. Okay. Would you take care of me? I just wish you weren't lack of tranquility again. I accept that you weren't lack of tranquility. I accept that. I do. Speaking for lack of tranquility. And speaking for not lack of tranquility. I accept your wish. You're cared for. And I request you to take care of me.

[74:31]

Caring for this state of tranquility. You're being invited. Take care of her. What should I say to you? Did I... Did I talk to you? I didn't know I wasn't talking to you. What? I didn't listen to you. Is that what you want to say to the case? I don't know. The case agrees with you. The case agrees with you. Thank you. The case says you're welcome. I'm walking around.

[75:35]

I'm also... The case says... The case says... You can walk around too. Linda's from Minnesota. And in Minnesota we have... And in Minnesota we have... What else have we got? Nope. No, I like your hair.

[76:43]

I like your hair. Take care of her. Oh, come on. She's a snake. She's more awake than I've ever been. I'm going to enhance the rock. Touch down the NFL. This would be... I just don't like that. I don't like that. You know this one. That's important. The rock is from the greenery.

[77:45]

The rock is from the greenery. It's not as good as it's supposed to be. It's not as good as it's supposed to be. Take care of her. Take care of her. This is the best one yet. See it? Oh, no. [...] Nice. Nice. Take care of her. Look at that. I got her. I shot this. Look at that. Look at that. Make her sleep.

[78:46]

Take care of her. I said the question first, she was interviewed by the press first, that's the place of the poem.

[84:24]

It's not amazing, though. I haven't quite got it. Attention, please stand ready. You can do it. You can do it. You can do it.
